Once a shy village where development seemed a distant dream, now Betalbatim is moving ahead with constructions , better roads, eat-outs ..more picnics to the famous sunset beach near Nanu Resorts, or the other famous patch Lovers beach, all this makes puff up our chest with pride that we are modern now.
We might still have the small mini buses plying at snails pace which at times even a toddler can over take with a tricycle, but addition of 2 and 4 wheelers are quite evident on sunday at the church square. This all adds up to a serious garbage problem. We had waste management getting into place with Clinton Vaz conducting workshops in collaboration with Betalbatim Civic and Consumer Forum , and support of the Village panchayat Betalbatim.
The segregation of wet and dry waste which can be at the point where waste is generated helps in systematic disposal of waste. There are other types of waste like E-WASTE that needs careful processing and proper knowledge to dispose to prevent damage to Ecology . One initiative by a Group TenPlus founded by Ashley Delaney has given us an opportunity to keep the earth clean for our future generations.
