Boxing introduced in St. Jude's High School, Betalbatim

St. Jude's High School, Betalbatim may be just another village School and looked down upon by some.  But the efforts of the Physical Education Teacher Chadwick Furtado have paid off in recent times. The School is on the vergre of producing some of finest sports talent in years to come. Chadwick has been instrumental in introducing variety in sports the students can choose from. In the month of July boxing was introduced in the under-14 and under-17 for both boys and girls. 

It will be  proud moment for St. Jude's High School, Betalbatim on 17th July 2016 when the school will participate in district level boxing tournament. This will be organised by Directorate of sports of youth affairs at the Peddem Indoor Stadium. Students will be competing in under-14 and under-17 for both boys and girls.

Cleanliness drive on 1st Oct 2015

St Judes High School organised a cleanliness drive on 1st Oct 2015 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan around the School premises. The students were seen enthusiastically sweeping and clearing the grass and the dirt lying around.

St Jude's High School Hall roof gets covered

St. Jude's High School Betalbatim, a parochial School attached to Our Lady of Remedios Church finally gets a hall of its own. This hall will help the school to conduct various extra circular activities within its premises.  Over the years much development has taken place. The assembly area is paved and includes a volleyball court.

A life-size statue of the patron saint, St Jude was installed. The windows of the school were replaced. The roofing of the existing structure was covered with superior roofing material . The parishioners of Betalbatim have contributed towards the improvement and maintenance through periodic donations.

St. Jude's High School Hall

St. Jude's High School will have its own hall to conduct their extra curricular activities indoors particularly during monsoon season. This initiative taken by some far sighted members of Parish needs to be commended. Many villagers have generously donated towards this cause and some shows including dramas have been organised to generate funds for the quick completion of this project before the monsoon.

Cielda Pereira , Voice of Betalbatim

Cielda Pereira, a budding star that has bloomed in the garden of Betalbatim. Once a sleepy little village that has given Goa , quite a bunch of talent musicians, sportsmen, tiatrists has in recent times churned out talent of the new generation. It was quite evident at the recently held competition " Voice of Betalbatim ", that in years to come villagers in Betalbatim will be witnessing a change for the good in the field of music.

Cielda Pereira, the "VOICE OF BETALBATIM" has come a long way under the watchful guidance of her mother Mrs. Joanita Pereira , who herself with her melodious voice is a renowned singer in the church choir. As a  cheerful and humble youth Cielda has her own bunch of fans across ages who listen to her with awe whenever she steps on the stage much to the delight of the crowd. Some of the accomplishments that Cielda has achieved in recent times are:

Mickky Pacheco Charitable Trust in association with JCI Coastal Salcete is organising a free Dental Camp at St.Jude's High School , Betalbatim on 24th November 2011, from 9.30 A.M to 2.00 P.M.

Shri Mickky Pacheco (Hon. MLA Benaulim Constituency & Ex-Tourism Minister ) will be the chief guest, Rev. Fr. Jose Ubaldo D'Cunha the guest of Honour. Mrs. Nelly Rodrigues  ( Zilla Parishad member, Colva Constituency ) has consented to preside. The special guests for the function are Mr. Micheal Pereira ( sarpanch ), Mrs.Emmy Rogtao (Dy. sarpanch) of V.P. Betalbatim and Headmistress of St. Jude's High School Mrs. Eugenia D'Silva. The camp will be co-ordinated  by Mr. Adrian Torres

St. Judes High School champions in Salcete U-14

St. Judes High School, Betalbatim proved their superiority by defeating Mae dos Pobres High School, Nuvem. The near one sided match in first half saw St. Judes score through Klusner Pereira in 20th min. whereas Preston of Mae dos Pobres High School brought relief to his team in the 55th min. by scoring the equaliser.

The Salcete Taluka U-14 inter-school football tournament will come to an end as St.Judes High School, Betalbatim take on Mae dos Pobres High School , Nuvem. The inter-school tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs saw both the semi-finals being decided via a tie-breaker.

St.Judes High School, Betalbatim fought back after being 0-2 to sail into the finals after valiant efforts of Princeton Rebello and Shelton D'silva during the second half and Nanu,Klusner and shelton sealed the fate of Manovikas English Medium High School, Margao.

Nanu Dhond, Princeton Rebello and Sheldon D'silva booted Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda out via a tie-breaker. Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda tried their best to fight back through successful attempts from Clive Miranda and Cayven Araujo.
