Winners of All-Goa Carol Singing Contest 2015

St. Michael’s Choir, Orlim bagged the 1st Prize in the Open Category at the All-Goa Carol Singing Contest organized by Betalbatim Cricket Club at Betalbatim on 18th December 2015. Fr. Agnel Higher Secondary, Verna were the Runners-up while Club Acoustica of Chowgule College, Margao won the 3rd spot. 
In the School’s Category, St. Xavier’s High School, Macazana were the Winners. King’s School, S. Jose de Areal took the 2nd Place while Sacred Heart High School, Carmona won the 3rd Prize.

Chief Guest Viola Pacheco, congratulated the winners and Betalbatim Cricket Club for organizing the contest excellently every year. She also had a word of praise for parents and teachers of the participants. Parish Priest Fr. Pascoal Afonso presided and along with Guest of Honour  Fr. Milagres Fernandes gave  away the prizes with the Chief Guest. Mr. Arlindo de Miranda and Mr. Alvaro Pereira were the judges while Mrs. Cheryl Athaide Lobo Cota proposed the vote of thanks.

Annual Sports at St. Jude's High School, Betalbatim

St. Jude's High School, Betalbatim organised their annual sports on 5th Dec. 2015. Chief Guest of the function was Bruno Pereira ( ex-teacher of St. judes high school) and son of the soil. Guest of honour was Mr. Reginaldo Diniz yet another ( ex-teacher of St. judes high school) and son of the soil. A colourful display of various programs kept the crowd entertained .        
Students look smart in their uniform and shocks and shoes. Dressed according to their house colours, the bright sun light up the reds,blues,greens and yellows as the the students marched and displayed their  skills.

A normal child would be accompanied by a parent to the nearest shoe shop and after trying out the best shoes that fits the leg, it would be bought. The e-commerce era has brought about a revolution , where you can shop from the comforts of your house and with smart phones making accessing net even easy. Now a days popular shoes are picked online  and you can even save a lot as most of shoes bought online have discounted rates.

Kor Kantar, a Konkani Musical fusion

Kor Kantar, a Konkani Musical fusion will feature a wide array of artists at the St. Michael's Church Square, Taleigao on 8th November 2015 at 7.00 pm. This is in aid of St. Michael's Parish Centre. 

Perfomers include the Goan nightingale " LORNA", Goa's fado singer  Sonia Shirsat, our very own Cielda Pereira ( Nachom-ia kumpasar fame ) along with Alria Rose ( Mumbai ), Ester Noronha ( Mangalore ), Anceto, Veeam Braganza, Divya Naik ( Goencho Avaz 2015 ), baba Cielo . The comedy trio comprising of Janet, Agostinho, Selvy will present a new comedy skit and a dance performance by Cider and Cinida Dias will add variety to the programme . 

Chief Guest for the event is His Excellency Archbishop Patriach Filipe Neri Ferrao, the Chief Organiser is Fr. Conceicao D'Silva. The task of compering will be shared by Engelbert Rose ( Mumbai ) & Hera Pinto ( Mangalore ).

This event holds much significance as our very own Cielda Pereira performs , but this time for a noble cause. Lets make it a date for Konkani, for golden Goa.

Cleanliness drive on 1st Oct 2015

St Judes High School organised a cleanliness drive on 1st Oct 2015 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan around the School premises. The students were seen enthusiastically sweeping and clearing the grass and the dirt lying around.

Betalbatim Sporting Club, Office inaugurated

  

 Betalbatim Sporting Club inaugurated their office today in the Church premises. The enthusiastic crowd gathered with everyone greeting good wishes. The ribbon was cut by Mr. Jose Cota ( founder secretary of the Club) and Mr. Jose Pereira ( President of the Club) in the presence of Rev. Fr. Pascoal Afonso ( Parish Priest)  members of the club and well wishers.

 Rev. Fr. Pascoal Afonso lead the prayer service and latter blessed the Club Office. In his address Fr. Pascoal Afonso congratulated the members of the Betalbatim Sporting Club and wished them all the success in years to come.

Inauguration of St. Judes High School Hall

The much awaited inauguration of the school hall was a dream come true for the villagers of Betalbatim. Fr. Pascoal Afonso ( Manager of St. Judes High School & the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Remedios Church, Betalbatim ) cut the ribbon as the crowd gathered clapped with smiles on their faces. Also in the picture is Mr. Hillary Cota (RHS) and Mr. Isidore Mendes (LHS), Mrs. Loretta Colaco ( Headmistress) and Smt. Nelly Rodrigues ( Zilla Parishad member). Fr. Pascoal latter said a prayer followed by blessing of the hall. The students of St. Judes High School presented a programme of songs and dances.
