Braving heavy rains, a large number of Betalbatim villagers attended the Monthly Meeting of Betalbatim Civic & Consumer Forum held at St. Jude's H. School, Betalbatim. The highlight of the meeting was the GOACAN'S Poster Exhibition and Awareness Programme Gram Sabha Zagrut Za. Mr. Roland Martins Coordinator of GOACAN exhorted people to be alert to the assaults on their civic & consumer rights and to fight relentlessly by making full use of the Panchayat Raj Act, the Consumer Protection Act and other laws. Reminding them of their duty to protect the environment by proper segregation and disposal of garbage especially of hazardous material he launched the Forum's used battery collection drive. Mr. Gregory Pereira of Nuvem CC Forum, Mr. Martin Rodrigues of Raia CCF and Cladius Dias of Navelim Xetkariancho Ekvot shared the experiences of their respective forums. Earlier Xavier Cota, Convenor of Betalbatim Forum welcomed the people while Susanna Falcao proposed the vote of thanks.
