ST. CECILIA VOICES BAG TOP HONOURS AT BETALBATIM CAROL CONTEST
St. Cecilia Voices led by Cielda Pereira bagged the 1st Prize at the All Goa Carol Singing Contest organised by Betalbatim Cricket Club. Mistletoe Magic a group from GMC won the 2nd Prize while Sanctus featuring a young girl playing jazz saxophone took the 3rd prize. Fatima Convent H. School was awarded a Special Prize. Overall, the standard was excellent and it was heart-warming to see several young boys and girls playing the violin, flute and saxophone, besides the usual guitars and keyboards. Maria Amaral an accomplished singer and exponent of the Mando and Rene Mesquita, teacher, singer and choreographer were the judges.
Fr. Pascoal Afonso, the Chief Guest congratulated all the participants and commended the Club members for working like a well-oiled machine to flawlessly organise the Contest which was co-hosted by Wilma Noronha and Xavier Cota. Dignitaries on the podium also included Asst. Parish Priest Fr. Peter Fernandes, Zilla Member Prof. Nelly Rodrigues, Sarpanch Constancio Miranda & Dy.Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes, Shanti Pereira of Martin’s Corner and Club President Franklin Fernandes. Isidorio Mendes proposed the vote of thanks.
